This service is provided to assist users to search and obtain references and information on various subjects related to the materials in MCBs collection.

Journals/Bulletins

(1) Malaysian Cocoa Journal (MCJ Year 2004,2006-2012)

Malaysian Cocoa Journal (MCJ) is the official publication of the MCB that have been published for the first time in 2004. To date a total of five volumes were published. The main purpose of publishing this MCJ is to enhance the communication and information exchange between the scientists and cocoa industry players. Each of its writings can be used as a guide and reference for research and research activities related to cocoa. Publication of research in the form of cocoa content will also help scientists collect data in the form of scientific knowledge.

It contains a form of academic writing, contributed by researchers from MCB Biotechnology, Technology Transfer and Extension, Cocoa Upstream Technology, Cocoa Downstream Technology, Market Development and Economy. This journal is written in the English versions and can be viewed online ( http://www.koko.gov.my/lkm/loader.cfm?&type=Publications&cat=Journal ) for 2004, 2006,2007,2008 and 2009 volume. The 2010,2011 and 2012 journal are for sale priced at RM 100.00 per copy. The abstract content (in 2010,2011 and 2012) can still be accessed for free.

(2) Malaysia Cocoa Bulletin (MC Year 2004-2012)

Malaysia Cocoa (MC) is the official publication of the MCB that have been published for the first time in 2004. To date a total of six volumes were published. The main purpose of this publication is to propagate MCB activities to the community / audience and the players in the cocoa industry. This bulletin can be used as a reference and a guide for communities, including students in public / private institutions to boost the cocoa industry in Malaysia. Involvement and research activities by MCB as a government agency in charge of the importance of cacao can be found through this newsletter. It is distributed free of charge and can be viewed online at http://www.koko.gov.my/lkm/loader.cfm?&type=Publications&cat=Articles. It is written in two versions of Bahasa Malaysia and English.

Third Party Online Database Services

The library subscribes to 3 journal databases to help staffs to do research and find references. These databases CAN ONLY be accessed from identified computers within MCB Head Quarters and offices. The databases are:

  Consist agricultural scientific information easily accessible to research around the world through Full Text Select (articles); CAB Reviews (Perspectives in agriculture); Veterinary Science ; Nutrition and Natural Resources; Maps of pests ; Maps of Plant Diseases ; Description of Fungi and Bacteria ; CAB Abstracts on Google (5,000.000 abstracts).

Electronic Information & Search Services

Electronic information services are provided to allow researchers to access the Internet, CD/DVD-ROM and also online databases from inside or outside of Malaysia. This can help researchers to obtain information faster and easier.

Archiving Services

Since its establishment, this service is created to collect and archive all information regarding to the Malaysian Cocoa Board. Apart from that, we also received materials from various government agencies, private companies and individuals.

Specific / Academic Services Between Libraries

This service allow MCB staffs to apply other libraries services other than MCB library. This is a cooperative arrangement between libraries. Users who wanted to use this service are advised to refer to the libraries management.

Computer Services

This service is currently provided to all staff of the Board. External users are also allowed to use this service, provided they bring along an authorization letter from their respective agencies.

Suggestion / Complaints Box

The MCB library provides a Suggestion / Complaints Box for users to give comments and suggestions to improve the services of MCB library. This box is placed around the counter area of the library. Answers and actions taken in respond to user comments and suggestions will be displayed on the library's notice board or on the library website.
